Love is locked fingers
A thousand pin pricks
and
blood tests
Countless trips to the E.R.
Love is sixty-three
years of smiles
in the morning
and calm evenings of
good night
And one
I’ll really miss you
when you’re
gone

Straight up with a twist– Because life is too short to be subtle!
Notes from Laurel Leigh
This is beautiful and bittersweet, and the photo is perfectly fitting. While I walked my dogs yesterday, I passed an elderly couple holding hands. That image of enduring love always gives me hope. Wonderfully written!

Thanks, Adelie, the picture is of my parents. They ALWAYS walk with little fingers entwined.

I do love photos like this. Shows that sometimes it does last. That’s a nice thought, even if I’m not one of the ones it happened for. Also, your poem expresses the sentiment beautifully.

Thanks. The couple walking are my mom and dad. Still married after 63 years. Cool, eh?
