An Unlikely Encounter

Let’s say Danny and Spencer plan to meet beside the Integraton, thinking it will be fun. A case of beer, a couple of joints, what can go wrong? “We’ll see if time travel is real, how ’bout it?”

No, let’s say Alexandra and Yvette plan a picnic. “Meet me at Le Marais, bring mulled wine and cheese.”
“Indeed! And you bring two gentlemen from Montmartre.”
Although they laugh, neither girl thinks this particularly funny. Both know they are plain and often thought of as dull.

The day is sunny, bright, not a cloud in the sky. Still, something is off. A smell in the air? The feeling of – what?

Scratch that, the day is cloudy, filled with the promise of rain. Lightning zips across the sky, charging the air with electricity and eye-scorching light.

In the end, we see all four meeting in the shadow of the Integraton and, when comparing notes, they discover they exist centuries apart.

It’s fun to imagine the possibilities. Maybe the Integraton really worked? Fun story.

That last line had me reeling. You took a good story and turned it on its ear to make a great one. Love it.

  6. I love a story that includes, “what could possibly go wrong” In this case maybe it wasn’t wrong.

Love this little tale, the way you twine the posibilities together, the knowing comment about the girls bein dull and unattractive. Just super. You’ve brought the scenes to life with so few words – cracking Alicia

Nice bit of suspense you built up. The climax could have gone in a number of different directions.
