Dancing

Today’s Friday Fictioneer picture was provided by CEAyr and posted by our fairy blog mother, Rochelle. Thanks to you both!

Woodstock. 1969. You. Me. Miles of mud.
An ocean of people
and music with a beat that carried straight to the heart with a thrum

You: with your six-foot-plus frame clad in fringed leather, sometimes. And beads, always.
Me: a four-foot nothing chick wearing one flowered dress for days. The flowers? Carolina blue, like your eyes.

How did we find one another in that crowd of shouters.dancers.lovers?
Never mind. No matter.
I only remember Dancing. Dancing. Dancing.
Beside you. We never touched.

Now, with miles of memories created over an ocean of years
we dance chest-to-chest
Just you. Just me.

A lovely romantic story. I really enjoyed it. I probably should’ve check up on this early. However, was this photo taken at Woodstock? I’m Australian and I didn’t pick up on that.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

No, Rowena, it was taken in my current home town of Cavalaire sur Mer, or Medville as I call it, on the Côte d’Azur.

Wow. I had a quick peak online at Cavalaire sur Mer. It’s beautiful. What’s it like living there? Do you get inundated during Summer? What’s it like there atm? So many questions, but this little Aussie Battler’s been in lock down too long. We live at Umina Beach in part of Greater Sydney and we’re just across from Palm Beach, which is quite well known. We’re slighly off the tourist map here, except at the very peak of Summer lthogh there is a local caravan park that every man and his dog’s dog seems to have stayed at over the years. You can see some beautiful photos on my blog and to be honest, I can’t understand why I don’t get out there every day. However, just because you live somewhere beautiful doesn’t mean you don’ have to get on with other stuff.

    How sweet, Alicia.
I hope it has some basis of truth.

    • Actually, while reading up on Woodstock this morning I found out that the iconic picture taken of the couple wrapped in a dirty quilt are still married! I’m glad I didn’t know that until I had the idea of my story already set. Went on the mushy side this week since last week’s story made people sad. Cheers and thanks for a neat picture. Lish

A feelgood story, Alicia. I especially liked the “sometimes” in “You: with your six-foot-plus frame clad in fringed leather, sometimes”

Awww, that’s lovely! You describe the attraction between the couple so well. Way before the end I was hoping they were going to marry and – bless you! – they did. Now I’m happy!

Woodstock seems like it was a magical place where magical things happened.

I always wonder at couples with size disparities like that. He has to be on his knees or she has to be on a chair for them to dance chest to chest. Or does he just pick her up?

  24. Very romantic piece, Alicia and good to remind us of Woodstock again. I was also too young and on the wrong continent to be there, but I like to imagine what it would have been like had I been.
